AKA Catherine
Frank Janda was married in his native land, Bohemia, and in 1870 he and his wife came to the United States, landing at the port of New York. After spending a short time in the American metropolis they came west, locating in Delaware County, Iowa where they remained about a year, at the end of which time they came to Minnesota and joined the considerable Bohemian colony which had settled in the New Prague neighborhood. Mr. Janda bought a 40-acre tract in Lanesburg township, to which he presently added an adjoining tract of 15 acres, and on that 55 acre farm lived for 30 years, establishing a substantial home and becoming one of the leaders in the community life thereabout. When they retired from the active labors of the farm they moved to Montgomery. To Frank Janda and wife eight children were born, five living: Barbara, Frank, Joseph, Anna & John.
