Our eternal gradification goes out to Effie Jackson for all the fine geneological research that she has so kindly provided to us. This cemetery is known as the Brownlee Cemetery and is located at 225 Bethesda Church Road in a community which once was known as Gloster and now is a part of Lawrenceville. (Gloster was a flag station on the Seaboard Railroad, five miles west of Lawrenceville.) According to the Gwinnett County Historical Society Death Index spreadsheet, Vinson Brownlee (1797-1883), his wife, Elizabeth (1810-1876), and their son, William R. (1837-1900) are believed to be buried here. Their specific plots though are unknown. There are just 20 graves designated here, and they are marked only by field stones. However, there may possibly be a few more unmarked ones. The land historically belonged to the Brownlee family and now is part of Bethesda Park. The fenced cemetery sits on top of a knoll which is located on road frontage that spans the west side of Bethesda Church Road, just south of the access road to the Bethesda Park Senior Center. ![]() Brownlee Cemetery ![]() Brownlee Cemetery |
